Hor douvers is a French word for appetizers. Appetizers are generally served before a meal. They differ widely from one country to the other. For example the appetizers in the United States vary greatly from India. India is a country which gives importance to food and festival. Indian foods are prepared with various ingredients and takes long time to prepare. You can bet on the taste of the Indian foods with any country foods. They taste good as well full your stomach. Some of the Indian recipes are given below. You can prepare them at home and enjoy a variety of appetizers. Some of the Indian appetizers are samosa, bhel puri, Pani Puri, masala puri and pav bhaji.

 

 

The recipe for pav bhaji is given below

Ingredients for pav bhaji are

1 cup potatoes

1 cup green beans

1 cup carrots

¾ cups peas

2 cups onions

2 cups tomatoes

4 green chilies

¼ ginger

2 garlic cloves

½ spoon turmeric powder

½ spoon red chili powder

2 spoons pav bhaji masala powder

Salt to taste

Pinch of sugar

5 spoons of vegetable oil

6 spoons butter

5 spoons cilantro

10 pav buns

 

Preparation

Steam the vegetables or microwave them with water with some salt for 7 minutes until all the vegetables are cooked. Heat 5 spoons of oil in shallow pan on medium heat, add cumin seeds, when the cumin seeds splutter add onions and salt and sauté till they are brown. Add green chilies, ginger and fry for few seconds. Add tomatoes and sauté till they are cooked. Add the cooked vegetables with water. Add salt chilli powder, pav bhaji masala and turmeric. Add enough water to make curry into gravy. Mash vegetables till they cook. Remove the gravy from heat as it thickens and serve with cilantro.

Serving Suggestions

Cut the pav into 2 halves and heat in a griddle.

Apply butter on the sides of buns and place the curry on the buns, cover the sides of buns. Serve with onions, lime and cilantro.
